Job Description

The Director, Food Safety, Quality -  is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to Newly Weds Foods to ensure quality & food safety direction and objectives are established, executed consistently, and are met in concert with the overall strategic business objectives of Newly Weds Foods.

Essential Functions:

  • Create, communicate, and execute the company’s long range quality & food safety strategy.
  • Identify, lead and facilitate broad based product Quality & Food Safety programs and improvements throughout the company to set a level of superior performance against customer expectations.
  • Evaluates and determines the relative importance, potential impact and priority of corporate quality initiatives and allocates resources accordingly.
  • Establishes company wide programs, policies and expectations for quality assurance and food safety initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, support and mentoring to plant based quality personnel.
  • Define, lead and facilitate internal and external operational audit evaluations in the quality and food safety areas of responsibility.
  • Provide quality & food safety leadership and input into product and process development activities. Work with plant and research personnel to ensure product consistency.
  • Engage in direct relationships with customer technical personnel along with other Newly Weds foods personnel to facilitate achievement of company business objectives.
  • Monitor trends and emerging issues within the quality & food safety business environments to keep Newly Weds Foods informed, involved, and on the leading edge of such issues.
  • Serve in crisis management role for quality & food safety issues.
  • Position requires approximately 25% - 50% travel, some international.
  • Administer employee appraisals and salary reviews and provide employees with feedback.
  • Resolve and assists employees in solving work related issues; providing employee guidance/direction, counsel and motivation.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelors of Science in Life Sciences program.  Masters is preferable.
  • 10 – 15 years experience in Food Industry.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of Quality, Research & Development, and/or Technical Services.
  • Strong communication, analytical abilities, organization skills and general knowledge of Adobe applications, Microsoft 0ffice and Lotus Notes.
